Vaccination against hepatitis B through cigarette…
|
Russian researchers together with the Belarusian scientists received transgenic tobacco plants producing antigen of hepatitis B virus (HBs-antigen).
This protein is the basis of a vaccine against hepatitis B, the magazine "Science and Life". Such vaccines are safe and rarely causes side effects.
Similar results were obtained with transgenic potatoes, in which the number of surface antigen of hepatitis B virus in leaves is 0.05% of total protein, and in tubers reaches one million shares of a gram per kilogram mass.
Currently, scientists are working on improving the genetic structures to obtain cultures the greater productivity antigen virus hepatitis B.
